Loretta Tassel Bag

It's always a pleasure testing for Maria at Delinda Boutique. This time it's the Loretta Tassel Bag
I couldn't find a suitable tassel for mine so left it off.

This is a fairly easy bag to make which a confident beginner could tackle. Maria's patterns are very well written with clear photos of each step. It's hard to go wrong.
Loretta measures approx 15" W x 12 1/2" H x 2 1/2" D. The handle drop is 9" but is easily adjustable when cutting out your fabrics. I made mine about 3" longer.

The front has a large pocket for easy access to your cell phone and keys but will hold a lot more.

The pattern uses a magnetic button as the main closure but I wanted it to have a zipper so I added a recessed zipper which is an easy method to add to almost any bag.

Inside there are two roomy slip pockets and a zipper pocket for added security.

The back is plain but if you are a more experienced sewer and like lots of pockets you could add another zipper pocket to the back.

Now I'm here showing you Maria's design I may as well show you a little pouch I tested for her some time ago and didn't get the chance to show you.

This is the Drea Foldover Pouch. Cute little bag, these are two I made. I also made another two but can't find the photos anywhere.
Drea measures approx 8.5" W x 6 " H x 2 1/2"D when folded and 8 1/2" H when open. This is a perfect project for scrap busting.
I used fabric for the main body and for the bottom used a soft pleather for the closure tab I used a piece of leather.

I love the bottom of this pouch.

On this one I made the closure tab as written in the pattern and think it's more secure than the one above.

A nice feature of this bag is the zig zag stitching on the side seam. Some of the other testers used decorative stitches for this part.

And that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and hope you'll try out Maria's patterns. You won't be disappointed.

Happy Sewing

  2. These are great bags - Loretta has such a beautiful shape, and the Drea twins (fraternal, not identical, LOL) are sweet, especially the cool bottom shape and the decorative stitching on the sides - who knew that a regular old zigzag (or other dec stitch) would make such a cool design feature!
