Seeing Circles Before My Eyes

Hi

I was just taking a look over at Christine Welsh's blog and saw she had posted a great way of practicing how to sew around curves.
Here's the link, take a look.  http://blog.chriswdesigns.com/

I thought I'd give it a try myself. I'm not a patient person so I only did this once. If it had been on a piece of fabric I would have unpicked it in a few places. LOLL

I thought this was going to be a piece of cake but actually it's not as easy as it seems. It gets even trickier as you reach the center. Do you think I passed the test? If I was the examiner it would be a fail. LOLLL
Have fun.

  1. Your stitching looks pretty accurate to me! I think more of my stitches would be outside of the lines, lol :D

  2. I went to Chris' blog to look and sewing circles with a regular foot is a lot easier than sewing with a free motion foot. You should try it with a free motion foot next Maria, lol. Your sewing on the paper looked perfect to me. It is easier to see those black lines on paper too. Try marking on a printed fabric and try to see the lines, it's a lot harder to see, depending on the marking pen/pencil/chalk, etc. that you use. My circles are always wonky...oh well.

  3. Maria, I think you push yourself too much, your circles are perfect. Unlike you, if I were the examiner I would give you 100. You did a nice job, especially that it is not easy to do. Well done Maria!!!!!

  6. Maria, you did a fabulous job! Seriously!!! It just takes practice on paper to get the feel...then transfer to some scraps with batting and backing to practice how that feels. I remember when i first started...everything was awkward and uncomfortable...but i saw what others were doing and so i knew it could be done! You will master...you HAVE mastered these spirals!! Keep going!!! You have a great talent..and you are probably more patient than you think! maybe?? :)
